FLEXSTAFF
We are looking for Direct Support Professionals to work for our client, an organization that supports those with special needs in New York City. In this role you would be responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs
This is a full time direct hire position. We have openings in all boroughs and all shifts!
Pay is $16.80-$19.50 per hour, depending on experience.
To qualify for this role candidates must have their High School diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or similar populations is preferred. Familiarity with administering medications and monitoring vital signs is desirable. Experience in patient care, senior care, or related fields is a plus. Must be willing to work overtime when required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the residence by performing light housekeeping.
- Administer medications according to prescribed instructions
- Monitor and record vital signs of individuals under your care
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for individuals
- Provide companionship and engage individuals in social and recreational activities
- Help individuals with transportation needs, including driving to appointments or community outings
Skills:
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have special needs
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and other staff members
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, appointments, and documentation
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to coordinate the movement of individuals arms, legs and body
- Ability to lift a person from sitting to standing and vice versa
- Be able to maneuver/push equipment such as a wheelchair
- Posses strength and coordination to safely and quickly respond in an emergency situation
