We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized support to a 37-year-old man named Charles. Charles is a high-functioning individual with a strong desire to maintain his independence. He requires assistance with various aspects of daily living, including cooking, grocery shopping, maintaining a healthy diet, and exercising. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and respectful of Charles's preferences and privacy.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized support to Charles in his own home, assisting him with daily living activities such as cooking, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and maintaining a healthy diet.
- Encourage and motivate Charles to participate in physical activities, including going to the gym, swimming, and other recreational activities.
- Assist Charles with community integration, accompanying him to appointments, social outings, and other community events.
- Provide assistance with budgeting and money management.
- Promote Charles's independence and self-advocacy skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all services provided.
- Communicate effectively with Charles, his family, and other service providers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a residential setting
- Strong understanding of developmental disabilities and support principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license (Not a Must)
Schedule
- Part-time, weekends (Friday-Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm)
- Possibility of additional hours on Mondays
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $21.20 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week
