Direct Marketing Program Assistant

Salesian Missions is the main fund-raising facility in the U.S. for the Salesians of Don Bosco, a Roman Catholic charity founded by Don Bosco in 1845. Our Mission is to teach young people various trades that will help them find decent jobs and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. The Salesians insist that the needy help themselves in whatever way they can, even minimally. Our office is located in New Rochelle, N.Y. and employs approximately 65 individuals.

 We currently have an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual to join our team and help us propel our mission forward.  We are currently seeking candidates for a Direct Mail Program Assistant.

 Our ideal candidate must be proficient in MS Office and have strong math and English grammar skills. You must be precise and detail oriented, a multi-tasker, highly organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent time management skills are a must. This is a remote position for qualified candidates local to New Rochelle, NY, for occasional in-person meetings and/or training.

You will assist both the Direct Mail Program Supervisor and Direct Mail Program Coordinator in a variety of simultaneous duties that relate to multiple fundraising appeals on individual schedules.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified person to fill a position within an established NPO with a history of promoting from within. The right candidate will have opportunities and the desire to expand the position beyond the initial responsibilities.

Responsibilities will include:

• Heavy proofreading/approval of print proofs with deadlines
• Approval of appeal imaged copy prior to mailings
• Bid requests to vendors and purchase orders
• Light administrative duties
• Inventory tracking
• Some copy editing/creative work for publications
• Overseeing Data Processing with mailing list instructions on a few smaller mailings per year.

Desirable qualities would include:

• Employment or educational background in direct mail marketing, writing, or English disciplines.
• Volunteer or employment experience with non-profit organizations, especially fundraising.
• Bi-lingual Neutral Spanish – proficient in professional usage and grammar for Spanish proofreading.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel a must – Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
