The Independence Project is urgently hiring for an in home caregiver position for a quadriplegic client at $17.50 per hour!
Shifts are Friday-Monday mornings, 9am-12pm/1:30pm. Caregiver for a woman in mid 40’s, paralyzed in an accident. She lives in her own home with minimal assistance needed. She requires assistance with transferring, showers, meal preparation, and general housekeeping. Her home is conveniently located in Garden City! Duties:
- Provide Direct Care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications following proper protocols and guidelines
- Monitor and document changes in clients' physical and emotional well-being
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
- Assist with case management, ensuring clients receive necessary services and resources
- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with clients
- Support individuals with dementia by implementing specialized care techniques
- Lift and transfer clients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
Requirements:
- Previous experience in patient care or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to administer medications accurately and safely
- Familiarity with case management principles and practices
- Understanding of hospice care principles for end-of-life support
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
