Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for leading the development, communication and execution of a brand, product development worldwide sourcing strategy TSC Exclusive Brand business. This position will also collaborate on brand strategy for all TSC exclusive brands and assures all people, systems and processes are in place to consistently build and grow the Brand Equity for TSC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Develop and present annually the 3 year strategy for TSC exclusive brand and their global sourcing.
- Outline the factory, production, process, and systems needs for the future Exclusive Brand items focusing on top areas for saving and growth.
- Partner with VP to lead Product/Brand Managers and merchants to define and execute brand vison, strategy, positioning, product attributes and quality.
- Define and continuously improve the Product/Brand development process and timelines at TSC including: systems, research, specification & testing protocols, quality monitoring and assurance, field testing program, monitoring and reacting to returns.
- Lead product team in their execution of the prioritization and timeline for development.
- Conduct timely proactive communication including: actionable written weekly updates, development/travel plans, strategy and process plans.
- Travel overseas and domestically to:
- Research TSC and competition brands and product, factory capabilities and production quality,
- Develop relationships and products with factory owners, managers, designers, and engineers, agents, and TSC team members,
- Teach development and sourcing team what to look for
- Negotiate costs and services
- Support the improvement and growth of Exclusive Brand marketing, including e-commerce, packaging, visual and internal and external education and positioning.
- Negotiate costs and supplier support on exclusive brands
- Lead the sourcing area in finding, evaluating and executing factories that will support our Exclusive Brand items.
- Lead the timeline management and execution process on Exclusive Brands to achieve continuous improvement and profit growth.
- Systems and Process improvement: Document processes and continuously improve the systems and processes relevant to product development and sourcing including the PIM and PLM systems.
- Lead the planning and coordination of sourcing factory trips and agent summits relating to Exclusive Brand.
- Coordinate with domestic and overseas team to assure efficient and productive travel for all overseas and domestic sourcing trips.
- Lead the planning and execution on foreign vendor or agent summits or top to top meeting with import factories.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years of experience in sourcing and/or product development and management of direct and indirect reports required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; advanced degree in relevant field a plus. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Significant worldwide travel and work with factories, specifically in China required, Asia and Central and South America are a plus.
- Experience leading and/or working closely with QA/QC; Sourcing, Buying, Manufacturing and technical experience in hardlines is preferred.
- Large multi-channel retail and/or wholesale experience (Fortune 500) preferred.
- Expertise in negotiations, production and contingency planning; familiarity working with overseas offices/agents required.
- Experience with PLM and PIM systems preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills required.
