The opportunity

The Director is responsible for the entire contract process, review and approval life cycle; driving the partnership and analysis with Sales leadership, Corporate Legal and the CFO.  The incumbent must remain current on strategic direction, marketplace changes, legal requirements, and workload with a large number of individual customer contracts and multiple programs.  This role will require significant cross functional collaboration, customer engagement and management of deliverables and deadlines. 

How you’ll spend your day

All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by any incumbents with reasonable accommodation if necessary. Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in other related duties or assignments. 

•    Shared responsibility for contract negotiations and lead responsibility for review and/or approval of all contracts.  Leader must read all related contracts and provide ongoing financial review.
•    Responsible for enhancing relationship with Sales to jointly execute contracts and deals that are favorable and sufficiently profitable throughout the term of the contract.
•    Actively engage with hundreds of customers; chains, buying groups and individual customers.  Attend relevant customer meetings and trade shows.  Expectation to establish customer relationships both in person and through correspondence.  
•    Work with Sales to create alternatives and solutions on multiple deals, amendments, and renewals.  Establish strong peer relationships; lead and attend multiple Sales meetings to align with strategic overarching company goals.
•    Perform high level reviews of customer and rebate setups with all related intricacies in the system.  
•    Perform multiple review of customer trends, compliance with agreement and P&Ls.
•    Position requires significant collaboration with Pricing teams for appropriate gross to net.
•    Position requires significant collaboration with Accounting teams for accurate rebate processing.
•    Given pharmaceutical regulations governing contracts, the incumbent  is expected to have frequent interactions with Corporate Legal who reviews and approves all significant contracts in addition to the ability to  have strong understanding and work through issues and questions from Legal partners.
•    Current event reading and frequent interaction with Sales and Procurement to understand how macro environment and internal strategies will impact customer contracting, product availability, etc.
•    Performs reviews, analyses and present to executive management on a frequent basis. 
•    Gain system knowledge of proprietary system and Tableau in particular.  Additionally, continue exploration for advanced rebate systems.  
•    Participate in the interviewing, hiring, and training of department employees. Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports and provide coaching and assistance to subordinate managers in the areas of disciplinary action.
•    Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.

Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered. 

Education/Certification/Experience:
•    Minimum of 8 years related to contracts, accounting or business finance.  
•    High level business and negotiations experience preferred.  Pharma or Distribution industry experience desirable
•    Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
•    Solid business acumen and financial understanding to effectively negotiate, solve problems and create opportunities.
•    Assertive and personable, driving customer engagement and partnership. 
•    High collaboration with the business to include Sales, Pricing, Procurement, Logistics, Analytics and Finance, to understand macro trends, strategic decisions and operational impacts 
•    Ability to influence others and create alignment in a multi-stakeholder environment to successfully contract and execute on a solid contract 
•    Strong project management skills to obtain multiple inputs, perform required follow-up and execute in a timely fashion
•    Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment, complexity and stress
•    Big picture oriented, identifying synergies and incongruences immediately.
•    Strong verbal communication and presentation skills to Sales, the customer, executive management
•    Experience in management and handling of personnel related matters in a team this size and with varying levels
•    Leadership and example that is aligned with company values and principles 
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 15% domestic travel throughout the US.
