The Global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director provides overall EHS leadership and guidance for the Company. This role is critical to driving EHS excellence across the entire global organization and may be based in Richardson, TX, Hillsboro, OR, or Greensboro, NC.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Effectively refining and implementing the Company's EHS Management System
- Integrating environmental / safety compliance and management systems across the company with a significant focus on both front and back-end semiconductor manufacturing operations
- Championing operations excellence by demonstrating to employees how their actions connect to the Company's EHS vision and create long term value
- Provide significant leadership to the team of site based EHS professionals to meet the EHS related goals for the company.
- Provide consistency in external communications, customer or 3rd party audits, and regulatory agency inspections; domestically and internationally
Health and Safety
- Ensure sites comply with governmental health and safety regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Industrial Hygiene safety rules and regulations
- Assess potential operational risks and safety metric data and lead hazard/risk reduction strategies and initiatives
- Responsible for staying up to date with health and safety regulations and informing management of changes
- Ensure completion of safety training for all employees, including new hires
- Ensure appropriate Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) are completed
- Conduct safety audits across the sites including their core procedures
- Track and maintain accident records and completed reports required by law and company policy, including first aid and near miss reports, accident investigation, etc.
- Ensure complete and thorough root cause analysis for all accident investigations
- Attend and participate in corporate, insurance, government, etc. safety inspections
- Attend safety conferences and seminars to improve safety knowledge and skills
Environmental
- Ensure all environmental permits are maintained (air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste) including renewals, required reporting, permit modifications, and required notifications
- Conduct environmental audits across the sites
- Compete reports accurately and on time as required by permits and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and yearly EHS compliance forms to facility and corporate management
- Address any environmental concerns with the facilities
- Provide support with hazardous industrial waste disposal
- Responsible for staying up to date with regulatory changes and technology
Environmental Business Objectives (Sustainability)
- Develop long term strategy for the company's environmental footprint reduction in Green House Gas Emissions, Waste Generation, and Water Use.
- Lead EHS actions driving Sustainability throughout the company, developing annual environmental footprint reduction objectives, and providing regular updates to senior leadership
- Actively participate as a key member of the Corporate Sustainability Council
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of EHS related data for annual Sustainability Reporting
- Set short term reduction actions for GHGs, Waste and Water use, drive successful published projects and ensure accurate reporting of key metrics for each category. Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Waste generation by category type. Water withdrawal, reuse, and discharge.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Masters' degree in safety, environmental, chemical, or related science or engineering field
- Execution acumen and knowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing EHS programs and regulatory regulations and requirements applicable to the industry.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as Site Safety Manager, managing multiple sites and global experience
- Certifications as an ISO auditor, six sigma black belt, DOT & Hazardous Materials, Industrial Hygiene, and other industrial related certification a plus.
- Proficiency in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
- Successfully managed remote teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels.
- Project management, root cause analyses problem solving ability.
- Demonstrated strategic perspective with ability to implement with results.
- Innovative, enthusiastic about environment, health and safety solutions that enhance safety performance, reduce cost, and strive sustainability.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent public presentation skills including all levels of management.
- Microsoft Office, Word and Excel proficiency.
