Boston University seeks a Content Producer/Storyteller to craft and share stories through video, photos and words from the College of Communication (COM), the home of journalism, advertising, public relations, film, television and media science. The Digital Storyteller is an essential member of a five-person marketing and communication team serving BU’s third-largest college, and reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days working on site each week.
Responsibilities
- Manage COM’s primary social media accounts – Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and X -- to monitor, schedule and share COM-related news, events, videos and photos.
- Monitor and support secondary social media accounts operated by COM departments and student groups.
- Monitor and report metrics for COM’s social media channels.
- Identify and shoot compelling photos of COM people and happenings.
- Direct contract photographers and videographers.
- Organize and manage archive of photo and other visual creative assets.
- Edit video recordings of online events for posting on COM’s YouTube channel.
- Create short interview videos with b-roll in horizontal and vertical orientation.
- Identify topics, research and write copy for COM’s social media channels and, occasionally, website news section.
- Hire and manage student staff to contribute video, photo and word content.
- Identify story ideas for BU publications and beyond.
- Collaborate closely and proactively with COM’s graphic designer, website manager and others across COM.
- Follow technology and trends related to social media content and distribution.
- Assist with various marketing and communications tasks, as assigned.
- Shooting and editing video, including graphics, in Adobe Premiere Pro or Rush.
- Shooting photos using mirrorless cameras and editing in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
- Conducting interviews, composing for written news and feature formats, and editing for Associated Press Style.
- Managing social media posts with scheduling applications, preferably Sprinklr.
- Managing a photo and video archive through a digital management application, preferably Air.
- Managing tasks with a project management application, preferably Asana.
- Managing student or junior employees.
A Bachelor's degree is required, along with 3 to 5 years of experience.
