SCOUT was co-founded in 2004 by Deb Waterman Johns, a former Vogue editor and busy mom of four, who saw a need in the marketplace for stylish, functional, affordable bags to match her and her family’s on-the-go lifestyle. Today, SCOUT enjoys a loyal following of modern women ranging in age from 18-54 years old who comprise four distinct personas. Our primary focus is the high-achieving working mom seeking the most current trends to set her apart. She’s well-educated, hard-working, adventurous, socially conscious, and cares about supporting brands that give back. SCOUT has become her go-to resource by providing the products she needs to contain, organize, and carry all the stuff she needs to successfully navigate her busy life.

SCOUT is widely known for its thoughtfully designed bags with colorful original patterns and dynamic, easy-clean fabrics. Combining fashion & function at an affordable price, SCOUT has found a niche in the tote bag market and has created a sustainable competitive advantage. The core product assortment includes bags, coolers, accessories, and home organization. To further establish itself as a lifestyle brand, SCOUT is rapidly expanding into new product categories via key licensing partnerships and selective brand collaborations.


About the Position:

SCOUT is seeking a detailed, innovative, enthusiastic Digital Graphic Designer to join our team. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Creative, and in collaboration with the Marketing

Team, the Digital Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating dynamic and compelling sales materials that articulate the benefits of SCOUT products to our customers. We are looking for someone who has passion and skill for video and animation design as we are looking to integrate motion into our marketing – the person in this role would really own this innovation for the brand.


This role requires a detailed and results-oriented individual who can handle a fast-paced environment and react quickly to changing needs and objectives. This person is driven to constantly improve their creations and is comfortable tackling all aspects of the design process - from concept to execution - while working with a variety of team members.

Work includes the creation of digital and print materials including emails, web assets, social media posts, video editing, animation design, catalogs, hangtags, window clings and more! The salary range for this position is $60K - $70K.


What You’ll Be Doing:

Creative Design & General Responsibilities:

  • Use SCOUT's branding guidelines to design and produce digital and print materials for all sales channels of the business including website assets, email, social media content, direct mail, catalogs, signage, and hangtags.
  • Create innovative content that supports the marketing strategy and key messages.
  • Think beyond decoration and providing simple, strategic design that has purpose and reasoning.
  • Ask questions during preliminary project meetings to create solutions ahead of time.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Creative to produce content that aligns with SCOUT’s brand guidelines and seasonal look+ feels.
  • Stay current with the latest emerging design, marketing, advertising, and branding trends, as well as technologies to improve upon skills and techniques.
  • Maintain, demonstrate, cultivate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Ensure projects are completed with high quality, accuracy to the brief and on schedule.

WEB:

  • Design dynamic emails for retail and wholesale customers to generate sales and conversions.
  • Design and implement website landing pages in Shopify, NuOrder and HubSpot.

VIDEO/ANIMATION:

  • Concept, shoot and edit video content for web + social media use.
  • Create compelling still and motion graphics for social media and email platforms to generate sales, conversions and start conversations.

PRINT:

  • Create catalogs, line sheets, direct mail pieces, hangtags and other print marketing materials that translate to digital platforms to create a seamless brand experience.
  • Review creative briefs to create preliminary catalog paginations/drafts and present back to the team.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure product images, product descriptions, and SKU information are consistent and accurate.
  • Preflight projects and troubleshoot/correct any issues such as missing fonts, low resolution images, wrong color space, trapping and overprinting.

What We’d Like to See in You:

Required

  • 3+ years of design experience or proven creative design in a designer role or capacity at an agency or for an in-house brand.
  • A portfolio that shows strong visual craft applied across a range of deliverables, both print and digital. Pieces that utilize GIF’s, animations or video are a plus.
  • Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team in a highly collaborative environment with diverse perspectives and expertise.
  • Expert-level in Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Web/interactive design and usability experience.
  • Creative typography skills and an expertise of design fundamentals.
  • Ability to embrace challenges and inspire new ways of thinking.
  • Approach design problems inquisitively and create quick, effective solutions.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills and the capacity to distill complex information into meaningful concepts, ideas, and designs.
  • Ability to receive and handle feedback and creative direction with aplomb.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity, humility, a passion for doing great work.
  • A flexible personality that can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • An appreciation/familiarity of the SCOUT brand.
  • A strong sense of graphic style.
  • Experience in e-commerce or with a consumer products brand.
  • Experience creating long-form print publications.
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects, Lightroom, PremierPro, Dropbox, Canto and Monday.com.
