Digital FPGA Design Engineering Manager

MOOG Space and Defense Group is a proven provider of high performance and reliable space-rated avionics hardware and software. Products include control and data handling, power distribution, payload interface cards, mass memory, GPS receivers, motor and actuation drivers and controllers, and onboard computing. MOOG has partnered with NASA to provide electronic solutions for the Artemis Orion Crew Capsule, Viper Lunar Rover, Satellite Laser Communications Relay, OSIRIS-REX to study asteroid composition along with complete satellite buses for the defense department.

MOOG is looking for a Digital/FPGA Design Engineering Manager to lead a group of circuit card and FPGA designers.

As a Digital/FPGA Design Engineering Manager, you will...

    Manage a matrixed team of up to 10-12 (possibly more)

    Provide technical support and knowledge

    Select engineering tools

    Drive improvements in design processes

    Mentor and encourage new engineers

    Lead fault analysis team

    Allocate engineering personnel.

    Review circuit analysis and board level designs.

    Ensuring engineering team adheres to the required policies and processes

    Foster a culture of enjoying engineering design.

    Review electrical schematics/layouts

    Review FPGA designs

    Attend design reviews

    Provide engineering feedback to design architectures.

    Encourage teamwork

    Provide team members the correct tools for the job.

    Measure and report progress toward on-time delivery goals

    Ensure the design project meets internal and customer requirements by ensuring adherence to the required policies and procedures

The education, skills, and attributes you'll need for this role...

    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

    10 or more years of design and development in both circuit card and FPGA design.

    Digital design expertise including modern microprocessors / DSPs, high speed digital logic, FPGA, memory, analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog converters, and communication links.

    Demonstrate detail knowledge of VHDL coding and how to optimize for performance

    Analysis expertise including power dissipation, power consumption, timing, signal integrity, component derating

    Demonstrate detailed knowledge of board design and layout including design tools

    History of managing/leading people.
