We are looking for a talented and creative Digital Copywriter, someone who is a consumer-focused storyteller and has a deep passion for the sports industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the digital marketing landscape and be able to write engaging and persuasive copy for our website, social media, email marketing, and campaigns. They will be highly collaborative and business-minded to drive content development for wilson.com and all our social channels.

 

The primary responsibility of the Digital Copywriter is to deliver compelling, avid athlete, coach and fan-friendly copy across wilson.com and all of our social channels that are design-driven and accurately voice our brand identities. The goal is to build the Wilson Sporting Goods brand audience through affinity, excitement, and community.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Brainstorm, collaborate and work cohesively with the designers, Art Director and Marketing team to execute the highest quality concepts and marketing/communications projects.
  • Research and write complete and accurate product copy for omni-channel marketing materials, including, but not limited to digital advertising, promotional campaigns, social media, email blasts, etc.
  • Craft targeted emails that nurture leads, boost engagement, and drive action.
  • Create captivating posts that spark conversations, build communities, and amplify your brand.
  • Collaborate with marketing managers to understand product features and benefits, product line strategy and business strategy, then write copy that delivers on these strategic focuses.
  • Understand the demands of SEO to deliver copy that effectively utilizes key words and phrases seamlessly.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and creativity.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to immerse themselves in the brand and develop a knowledge base of category differences, including sport vernacular and specific terminology for the variety of athletes/audiences. Golf knowledge is a plus.
  • Vary tone and language messages based on medium, target audience and product while maintaining the Wilson brand voice.
  • Edit or rewrite existing copy as necessary.
  • Proofreads and edits copy.
  • Stays up-to-date with the latest trends in brand/digital marketing and is a continuous learner of the brand.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of content by appropriately applying product information, market research and preferred style to the content copy.
  • Maintain creative standards by reviewing type proofs and mechanicals for errors or omissions.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory accuracy and compliance.

This role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Advertising, or a related area.  We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of strong experience in professional writing and editing in a marketing firm, ad agency or equivalent in-house environment.

 

Other qualifications include:

  • Exceptional writing skills, strong command of the English Language, and ability to use creativity in order to attract the targeted audience
  • Strong communication and social skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with executives, general managers, business directors, the marketing team and other co-workers
  • Exceptional ability to immerse in the brand and develop a knowledge base of category differences, including sport vernacular and specific terminology for the variety of athletes/audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail; and initiative.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and creativity.
