Digital Content Specialist

GENERAL INFORMATION

DEFINITION

Under the general supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, the Digital Content Specialist assists with producing content for social media platforms and manages ED3’s social media presence. Prepares newsletters and related publications for distribution through multiple channels including print and digital distribution. Responsible for managing the website through a content management service (CMS). Assists with customer engagement and marketing efforts as assigned. Provides ancillary services similar to the duties of a Customer Service Representative (CSR) as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Produce Digital Content to engage with customers and increase social media user base.
  • Drafts and writes District(s) Newsletters, local ED3 advertisements, Commitment for Community program information, and all customer publications for print and/or digital distribution.
  • Responsible for website content and maintenance of website through a content management system (CMS).
  • Helps educate the public on current District(s) programs through print and digital channels.
  • Helps draft letters for special mailings and/or special announcements.
  • Helps manage and maintain all social media presence for the District.
  • Helps respond to social media postings on various platforms and responds to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm.
  • All other duties as assigned including duties of a Customer Service Representative (CSR) based on the needs of the District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare and write District(s) newsletters, advertisements, and posts with a high degree of accuracy for print and digital publication.
  • Import, input, process and validate data.
  • Monitor and perform quality control on all print and digital publications and notices.
  • Coordinate all District community events.
  • Talk with customers by phone or in-person at public events.
  • Must have basic camera knowledge for photographing District events and using these photos for publications on an as needed basis.
  • The person selected for the position must have strong leadership and a strong sense of creativity.
  • Must have the ability to research what other industry specific utilities are doing.
  • The ability to provide management feedback from community and customer events.
  • Needs to understand the focus of the utility industry and the current challenges during everyday business.
  • Needs to be an expert at meeting deadlines and utilization of time management skills.
  • Have superior organizational skills.
  • Have a strong work ethic and also enjoy working with people and all different personalities.
  • The ability to speak in front of a group and to give formal presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrates the ability to follow up on projects regularly.
  • Ability to create and maintain lasting community relationships.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and must have a positive attitude.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photo Shop) and social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, Google etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with Mailchimp and SharePoint.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, supervisors, peers, employees, social media platforms, community members and contractors.
  • Proactive approach to workflow progression and problem solving, ability to multitask.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Basic computer, keyboarding, 10-key skills and must be able to type at least 35 WPM.
  • Mathematical Skills: The ability to calculate figures and amounts including the ability to understand and interpret rate tariffs.
  • Must successfully complete qualification test set forth in the training program given by ED3.
  • Excellent customer service skills (friendly, courteous, respectful, and helpful).
  • Team Oriented – Must possess the skills required to work as an active team member, including but not limited to communicating with coworkers & assisting in other areas as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to review time sensitive material, creating projects for flyers, videos and printed materials.
  • Ability to swiftly produce exceptional work that meets all deadlines and exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to remain calm and be able to coordinate multiple tasks in an active environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of graphic design principles.
  • Ability to handle technical and upper-level complaints from the public.
  • Ability to complete necessary reporting and project tracking as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in communications is preferred and minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • One-year (1) experience drafting professional publications, ads, & marketing material. (When applying, please produce 3-4 samples of past design publications)
  • Utility background preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work in an office environment, at either of the district locations as needed. Occasionally attend outside events.
  • Some light lifting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
