POSITION TITLE: Meals on Wheels Dietitian Technician EEO CODE: 06
REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
LifeCare Alliance’s Nutrition Program’s dedication to quality has allowed it to become one of the oldest, largest, and most trusted Meals-on-Wheels providers in the county. Our program prides itself on providing consumers and stakeholders with all the information they need for the most successful nutrition experience. Dietitian Technician is responsible for supporting customers, case managers, consumer family members, and other Agency personnel. This role will help active and potential consumers navigate their nutrition journey within Meals-on-Wheels. Work requires exceptional communication and problem-solving skills and an ability to handle multiple functions at one time. This position requires an understanding of older adults and chronically ill individuals and their dietary needs. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial for this position. Work performed is under the general supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager.
This is a 100% grant-funded position with an anticipated grant end date of 8/31/27. Although the grant is expected to end on that date, sometimes additional funding can be obtained to extend a grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might also be extended. However, you should be aware that your employment as an employee of LifeCare Alliance is considered to be at will and may be terminated by you or LifeCare Alliance at any time regardless of the end date of the grant.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(1) Provide comprehensive nutritional services to consumers and case managers navigating home delivered meals menu and program primarily via phone; may include screening, menu checking/modification, ongoing nutrition intervention and diet education
(2) Mange Choice Meal/Medically Tailored Meal plan program – complete program eligibility assessments, work with consumers and case managers to customize meals plans based on dietary needs, work with consumers to update orders, prepare report to be processed by QA Coordinators and Kitchen Operations
(3) Responsible for interviewing new and current home-delivered meal clients, assessing current clients for additional support needs, and determining client eligibility to receive LifeCare Alliance services and/or enrollment into project. This includes scheduling and interviewing clients on phone completing appropriate applications and paper work; determining funding eligibility and services for which client qualifies; providing alternate sources to those ineligible; providing follow-up with agency staff; and documenting client changes and concerns.
(4) Responsible for working closely across departments, attending and contributing to cross department meetings.
(5) Collaborate with the internal assessment team to address observation reports and to process internal referrals to other LifeCare Alliance departments.
(6) Oversee bi-annual nutrition education outreach for home delivered meal and congregate program.
(7) Provide friendly, efficient, and professional telephone, email, and in-person customer service support to customers, case managers, drivers, kitchen staff, and other agency personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work in agency office. Generally works eight scheduled hours between agency opening and closing, Monday through Friday, generally 8am-5pm. Some remote work may be approved, but majority will be in office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an approved dietary manager's, diet technician, or dietitian's course that meets the state regulations. Possession of valid registration as a Dietetic Technician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetics Association (ADA). Substitution(s): Possession of a Verification Statement indicating completion of the requirements of a dietetics program approved by the American Dietetics Association. If the substitution is applied, possession of valid registration as a Dietetic Technician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetics Association (ADA) must be obtained upon completion of the probationary period. Must have a reliable vehicle, valid Ohio Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and adequate vehicle insurance to cover Meals-on-Wheels delivery.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person with a diverse public, including older adults and handicapped individuals.
Knowledge of the needs of the elderly.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Skills in speaking, meeting, writing and corresponding with diverse populations and audiences.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff, agency staff, clients, volunteers, and members of the community.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
Ability to maintain discretion and integrity in handling confidential information.
Ability to ask for supervisory assistance when needed.
Ability to quickly and accurately identify problems and solutions.
Ability to use mature judgment in decision making and sensitivity in relating to co-workers and clients.
