Job Summary:
Glenview Terrace is looking for a Dietary Technician provides nutritional care to all Residents of the facility through monitoring, care planning and education. The Dietary Technician under limited supervision, makes recommended changes to the Residents’ diet in effort to help them reach their nutritional and medical goals.
Essential Functions
1. Provides nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the Residents’ medical goals.
2. Evaluate, interpret, monitor and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs
of Residents using established standards of care guidelines.
3. Identify and provide nutritional counseling to meet the cultural needs of Residents.
4. Bring high risk cases to the attention of the on-site dietician.
5. Write diet orders as needed.
6. Function as a member of the clinical interdisciplinary team.
7. Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process
by attending care planning meetings and making recommendations regarding
nutritional needs of Residents.
8. Completes assigned MDS portions accurately and on time.
9. Assure that established infection control and prevention practices and standard
precautions are maintained at all times.
10. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and
supplies.
11. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents and interacts with them in a
manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
12. Ensure each Guest receives person centered care.
13. Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.
14. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
15. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to appropriate persons.
16. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
17. Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
18. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
19. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
20. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
21. Any noted opportunities for improvement will be shared with leadership in the organization.
22. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
23. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
24. Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan.
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences or similar field.
Preferred Education and Experience
One year working as a Dietary Technician
Bachelors in associated field
Licensure by the CDR
