Basic Purpose: To supervise the operation of an automotive garage, including the work activities of mechanics, and to manage the scheduling and servicing of Company vehicles and equipment.
CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of subordinate automotive mechanics and motor vehicle operators engaged in the service, maintenance, inspection and repair of WTB vehicles and equipment.
- Trains new automotive mechanics in the use of equipment, and reviews completed work assignments to ensure proper functioning of vehicles and equipment.
- Inspects work areas to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain inventory and records for mechanic workshop as well as keeping a written work history on each vehicle.
· Conducts supervisory responsibilities such as evaluating performance, recommending corrective actions and discipline.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent. Possession of an Associate's degree in automotive
mechanics from a recognized college or technical school may be substituted for the apprenticeship training.
Experience: Two years' experience as a journeyman mechanic in a commercial garage repairing motor vehicles, and related equipment. Two additional years of approved work experience may be substituted for the Associate's degree. Experience working on tractor trailers. Basic welding skills. Heavy duty truck mechanic experience.
License/Certification:
Current Texas Operator's license as required for road testing the new or repaired equipment. ASE certified.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to maintain service record database and track inventory. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with fellow workers and superiors. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
