Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Diesel Mechanic / Service Technician maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. This is a Monday - Friday, first shift position.
Pay: $22-$35/hr. (based on education, experience, skills, # of OEM certifications, etc.)
Shift: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
Shift Premium:Any hours worked/work performed Monday - Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 5:59 a.m., and/or any hours worked on weekends (Saturday/Sunday), will be paid a shift differential of 15% of your base wage.
Performance Objectives:
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program is preferred.
At least 5 years related work experience preferred.Valid State or Federal A/C Certification.At least 2 engine certifications (Paccar, Cummins or Caterpillar)
Mechanical knowledge required.
Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain).
Dependable and reliable attendance is required.
The purpose of the sign-on bonus is to reward associates who were hired to work for JX Truck Center in Service Technician positions based on efficiency levels.
Tech Level Sign-on Bonus amounts:
* J1 Technician - N/A
* J2 Technician - N/A
* J3 Technician - $10,000; Target Efficiency Rate = 85%
* J4 Technician - $12,500; Target Efficiency Rate = 90%
* J5 Technician - $17,500; Target Efficiency Rate = 95%
The bonus amount will be paid out in four (4) installment payments on the payroll following the qualifying dates:
* New associate has completed four (4) months of employment.
* New associate has completed seven (7) months of employment.
* New associate has completed ten (10) months of employment.
* New associate has completed thirteen (13) months of employment.
The terms and conditions under which an associate may be eligible for this bonus are:
* The associate must perform at the efficiency level outlined for his/her level in the JX job description. If the efficiency performance deviates to any degree below the assigned technician level, the sign-on bonus payout may be reduced accordingly at the discretion of management (Service Director, Vice President of Operations, and the Human Resources Manager.)
* The associate must remain employed, and in good standing (no active disciplinary actions) with JX Enterprises, Inc. for the entire time period prior to payout in order to receive the bonus.
* The initial measurement period shall begin thirty (30) days after the referred associate's start date with the company
* Subsequent measurement periods will be based on a stand-alone three (3) month basis.
The company reserves the right to modify or discontinue this program at any time, within its total discretion.
