Overview: The Medical Sonographer is responsible to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
Essential Functions:
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
- Reviews patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions. Prepares equipment for procedure. Selects appropriate equipment settings. Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that might be relevant to the condition being viewed. Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal areas. Selects images to show the physician for diagnostic purposes. Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in preliminary reports for the physicians.
- Completes preliminary examination reports for review with attending physician.

Pay: $38.46 - $45.68 per hour
