**This position is located in Landing, NJ.**
Interns will work with mentors in a collaborative setting to create prototypes using Advanced Manufacturing. They will learn to operate 3D printers and associated equipment supporting various projects. These projects will require an interdisciplinary skill set, and so all majors are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have interest, and preferably experience, in Additive Manufacturing and Robotics. Emphasis will be placed on soft skills as much as technical skills, and so an eagerness to learn how to operate in the interdisciplinary collaborative setting is required.

Essential Functions - This paid position will take place at NJII's Advanced Manufacturing Center, COMET, where a large variety of machines and forms of printing (polymer, metal, 2d, PCB) will be operated in tandem. The intern will operate more entry-level machinery in the shop (i.e. FDM polymer printers) to build their experience with 3D printers, and will promote to more involved machines over time (i.e. metal printers). The intern will also be responsible for all relevant supportive skills needed for completing/augmenting the printing process, such as post processing, basic hand tooling, and wood/metal shop fabrication. This role will place an emphasis on interdisciplinary work, and will involve collaborating with other interns both in and outside the intern's own area of study. Teamwork and other relevant workforce soft skills will be a priority just as much as technical skills.
The intern will be responsible for:
-Running and maintaining polymer and metal printers (FDM, SLA, SLS, SLM, +)
-Learning safety protocols and procedures for machine shop environments
-Receiving, installing, and testing new equipment
-Qualifying machinery and resultant parts
-Collaborating on buildout of the facility
-Operating supportive machines (post processing, subtractive, etc.)
-Working with staff to complete deliverables
-Logging progress, detailing what they have accomplished on a weekly basis
-Presenting their work to stakeholders and partners of the COMET Center

- Individual should be a current college student or recent graduate
