DF Packaging Operator

Under direction of manager/supervisor or leader, sets-up and operates bag and fill, canister and carton machines.
PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Operates a variety of packaging machines to include canister forming, bag form and fill, bag-in-carton, and pre-made bag filling machines.
2. Sets-up machine for operation, secures materials, selects and inserts film, zipper or fiber in machine.
3. Operates packaging machinery for proper fill and form of packages as required.
4. Starts and stops machine according to operational requirements; checks for proper bag, carton, and canister sealing and appearance; codes, imprints, tearing of film, makes minor adjustments as required; notifies maintenance or production supervisor of unusual conditions.
5. Cleans and services machine.
6. Performs routine quality assurance checks and records results if required.
7. Keeps accurate production records, i.e., material use, downtime, case counts, etc. as required.
8. Checks scales and monitors product flow to filling machines.
9. Performs minor maintenance and/or mechanical adjustments as required.
10. Keeps work area clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment.
11. Must be able to lift 35-50 pound rolls of film.
12. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area.
13. Must be able to work overtime if required.
14. Performs other duties relating to the overall effort as directed.
