Aeroflow Health – DevOps / IaC AWS Cloud Engineer - REMOTE

The Opportunity

Within Aeroflow, the software engineering team consists of 40+ software engineers organized into multiple key product delivery teams. Our engineers work alongside our business stakeholders, product owners, technical leads, QA specialists, and scrum masters to help facilitate quality products for the customers we service.

For this role, you will be joining our DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure team. Our DevOps team consists of 3 highly skilled software engineers, all of which come from years of experience in the industry. You’ll be working together on similar projects and as an individual contributor. This role is responsible for helping design and implement AWS infrastructure strictly leveraging infrastructure as code methodologies, automating code deployments and automated testing via CI/CD, and assisting other developers to become more efficient under the direction of our Engineering and Product Delivery teams.

Key objectives for this position include working with tech leads and product delivery teams to interpret business requirements from our internal stakeholders and utilizing their technical skillset to produce quality code during the implementation, enhancement, and support of engineering projects.


Your Primary Responsibilities

  • Consult with project/tech leads to make prioritization decisions in an Agile workflow.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve AWS infrastructure strictly using IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Provision, maintain, and secure over 40 existing AWS accounts
  • Develop and maintain automated code deployments leveraging CI/CD best practices
  • Implement and maintain observability tools for our technical systems
  • Design and implement automation wherever possible within the organization
  • Work directly with other developers in their associated tech stacks and frameworks
  • Collaborate with business owners, project/tech leads, and peers. Take ownership of tasks and projects as an individual contributor. Partner with diverse groups across the business to solve problems.
  • Help improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of development efforts.
  • Execute peer code reviews for quality assurance.
  • Able and willing to travel to Asheville North Carolina a few times per year.

  • Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications

  • Experience administering various AWS Services strictly leveraging IaC Infrastructure as Code, especially in a multi-account environment
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining multiple AWS CloudFormation templates/stacks from scratch
  • Experience building AWS serverless applications
  • Experience working with containers and related technologies
  • Experience working with more traditional cloud hosting offerings like EC2, RDS, etc
  • Experience with the AWS Console, CLI and SDK
  • Experience migrating legacy software applications to AWS
  • Experience with AWS IAM least privilege and best practice use cases
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines leveraging a tool such as GitHub Actions or Azure Devops Pipelines
  • Proficiency with at one or more programing language like NodeJS, Typescript, Python, or PHP
  • Familiarity with programming language package management tools such as NPM, Composer, etc
  • Experience working with and maintaining various database technologies like MySQL, MSSQL, and DynamoDB
  • Experience with automated software provisioning and server hardening on both Linux and Windows systems
  • Have a broad set of technology skills - DEVSECOPS - Development, Security and Operations
  • Firm grasp and real world application of key networking concepts
  • Operational experience - ready to own the uptime and quality of systems
  • Documentation and teaching mindset - Help others!
  • Advanced experience in troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of security and performance best practices for cloud architectures
  • Be a firm believer in “automate everything”

You might also have

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or other IaC infrastructure as code tools
  • Experience with Kubernetes and AWS EKS
  • Experience maintaining on-prem server infrastructure
  • Experience working in a multi-cloud or hybrid environment
  • Experience working with the Azure Cloud
  • Experience with establishing network connectivity between hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with Cloud and on-prem networking services/devices such as AWS Transit Gateway or hardware router devices
