About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Credit Risk Officer to lead the framework and management of the Corporate Credit Risk talent Development Oversight program. We are seeking a highly motivated credit/banking professional with outstanding leadership skills to understand the current suite of credit training available within both IRM and our CIB & CB LOB partner groups and partner with Learning & Development to enhance credit training offerings at both the early talent and experienced professional levels.
This individual will be a thought leader and look at ways to streamline, simplify and make current and future credit training offerings more impactful to the professional development of Wholesale Credit and LOB teammates. Development of sound Credit skills is essential to the success of the Wholesale IRM and lending platforms, and this role will interact with various groups within Credit, LOBs, Human Resources, Corporate Risk, Compliance and Operational Risk. Additional responsibilities will include the management and deal assignment of the Early Talent pool of analysts in Wholesale Credit Workout.
As a member of the Wholesale Credit Administration leadership team, this position will provide strategic and tactical support to the Group Head and key leaders for all initiatives and projects associated with the oversight of credit training programs and recruiting, staffing, development and retention of early talent within the Wholesale Credit Workout group.
In this role, you will:
Key responsibilities of the Development Oversight Officer will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordination with Human Resources and LOB partner groups to develop a suite of credit training across Wholesale Banking and Independent Risk Management.
  • Oversight of Delegated Credit Approval Authority (DCAA) against the qualifications of roles that are granted the ability to approve Credit on behalf of Wells Fargo Wholesale businesses and IRM;
  • Development and management of a Wholesale Credit training curriculum that can be leveraged within early talent as well as experienced credit professionals;
  • Overseeing the Workout group's recruitment of early talent (interns and permanent hires) in partnership with the Corporate Risk Programs and Lateral Recruiting teams;
  • Engaging with analysts and associates with a focus on retention and relevant topics, including continuous training and other career and professional development initiatives;
  • Staffing within the group and tracking of all projects to ensure appropriate cross-training, as well as leading regularly scheduled staffing meetings;
  • Serving as the recruiting liaison for the group by providing needs assessments, ensuring appropriate group representation at recruiting events, leading the participation in placement days and making final decisions regarding group placement;
  • Managing performance reviews for all analysts including establishing performance criteria/objectives, ratings and compensation and managing promotion processes;
  • Liaising with HR Business Partner on personnel topics and issues.
  • Supporting the Banking leadership team's diversity and human capital initiatives.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Preferably in a lending or Credit Risk management environment
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
  • Experience developing and cultivating professional relationships

  • Results oriented and resourceful
  • Proven ability to influence desired outcomes through high level project management, including documentation, execution and communication
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and concepts
  • Able to resolve issues, and overcome obstacles with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines
  • Direct experience successfully developing and managing junior team members
  • Experience working with senior leaders and partnering successfully with LOB support partners (HR, COO, Recruiting, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage broad-based initiatives and complex projects to successful conclusion
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and ensure execution
  • Ability to work independently and by taking the initiative
  • Knowledge of or experience working with CIB or CB products and services
  • Knowledge of development, engagement and recruiting best practices and industry trends
