Scope and Summary: Development Database & Research Specialist


The Development Database and Research Specialist works as a member of the Development Team charged
with meeting annual goals for contributed revenue from donors and earned revenue via membership. This
full-time staff member is responsible for maintaining the organization’s donor/member/sponsor database,
recording data, producing accurate and timely reports, and for managing research activities to maximize
contributed revenue opportunities. This individual will also assist with other Milwaukee Film activities and
events (e.g., events, festivals) on occasion.


Key Responsibilities:


DATABASE
● Develop in-depth knowledge of database, specifically Salesforce, program capacities and utilization.
● Recommend processes and solutions to ensure evolution of data collection and reporting. Ensure
accuracy and timeliness in the maintenance of Milwaukee Film contact records. Work with the
Development Director to create, update and maintain data entry standards.
● Prepare weekly, monthly and year end reports including, but not limited to: weekly donor and
member reports, monthly dashboard reports, committee/board reports, and renewal lists.
● Ensure gift entries and processing is completed in an accurate and prompt manner.
● Update portfolio documents with donor and member updates.
● Create reports, run queries and provide targeted lists for mailings, events, cultivation, etc.
● Complete regular checks to ensure accurate data transfer from Elevent to Salesforce database.
● Work with Tech Staff to establish processes for tracking errors, solving problems and making
corrections.
● Work with Marketing Staff with targeted information tracking and outreach.
RESEARCH
● Develop or possess knowledge of donor research resources and provide research information in a
timely manner for use in fundraising and membership efforts.
● Assess research needs and propose appropriate tools for purchase and/or utilization.
● Track the use of research tools and data. Assist in evaluating tools and ROI.
● Create donor profile reports for staff and board use.
● Ensure that research information is appropriately entered and saved in the database.



Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree required.
● Non-profit CRM experience required. Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.
● Demonstrate advanced experience managing data using Excel and/or Google Sheets.
● Experience working with ticketing, membership, and/or festival data would be a plus.

Work Relationships & Scope
Reports to the Development Director. Frequent contact with Membership Manager, Technology Director, and
IT Technician. Occasional interaction with the Communications Director and Chief Financial Officer. Involved
as appropriate with other staff teams. Secures the input or approval of the Development Director in making
decisions when answers or guidance is needed.


Work Environment/Physical Demands/Mental Demands:
● General, pleasant office environment with stairs.
● Sitting 75-80% of the time
● May need to work longer hours, in the evening, or on weekends, as needed
● Have reliable transportation with the ability to be at the main office or other locations as needed.
● Can manage what may occasionally be times of stress in healthy ways
● Good verbal and written communication
● Audible speech, good hearing, and eyesight
● Read/interpret complex data, electronic and paper documents
● Able to process and understand written instructions
● Able to bend, crouch, kneel, climb/descend stairs
