Project FIND’s mission is to provide low- and moderate-income and homeless seniors with the services and support they need to enrich their lives and live independently. Today Project FIND operates three supportive housing residences that are home to about 600 people and four older adult centers with over 3,000 members. Our members and residents range from the healthy and active to the frail and homebound to the homeless. Job Summary:


Reporting to the Director of Development and External Relations (DoDER), the Development  Associate will play an important supportive role in managing fundraising resources and promoting  Project FIND’s mission. The Development Associate will be an essential member of the team that supports the organization’s fundraising goals through individual appeals, special events, foundation, government, church and corporate solicitations, external relationships and day-to-day donor management. The Development Associate will create social media and website posts and campaigns and develop photo and video content to promote Project FIND’s staff, programs, events and accomplishments. Successful candidates will demonstrate initiative, an excitement for creative development work and a collaborative approach.


General Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of gift processing in the constituent database (NationBuilder) including: entering donation amounts, creating new donor records, entering donor addresses, updating donor records, adding notes and actions, and coding gifts.
  • Draft and send donor acknowledgements in a timely fashion.  Responsible for ensuring final, signed acknowledgments are filed/catalogued.
  • Assist the DoDER, by crafting and executing strong, positive messages about Project FIND’s programs and key events/activities for consistent posting on the website and social media. Social media posts will occur several times a week. The associate will assist with periodic website content updates.
  • Create and post social media and online announcements and invitations for key Project FIND events including the gala, cocktail receptions, volunteer recognition and other functions.
  • Collaborate with the DoDER on the planning and on-site coordination of special events, including galas, open houses, tours and activities involving Project FIND participants, volunteers, board members, donors, funders and community leaders.
  • Assist the DoDER with key activities surrounding the production and coordination of the annual report and calendar. Duties would include but not be limited to coordination of photoshoots with the photographer, scheduling of subject interviews, assisting with gathering report related data/statistics, and assistance with editing.
  • Help with the execution of direct mail solicitations, including the year-end appeal, gala invitations, and appeals for special campaigns and events. Examples of duties include: providing select content for letters as requested, ensuring letters and envelopes contain accurate/proper salutations and addresses and ensuring mailings are completed utilizing branded letterhead and envelopes.
  • Oversee and maintain event and direct mail mailing lists. The associate will ensure lists are kept up to date with current donor addresses and salutations. The associate will also ensure updated mailing lists are maintained in excel for data merging of letters and envelopes.
  • Generate and update fundraising reports and/or spreadsheets including: donor giving history reports and other related reports requested by the DoDER and /or Executive Director.
  • Serve as a contributing member of Project FIND’s development team: participate in team meetings and supervision sessions and collaborate as an essential member of working groups dedicated to special projects and events.
  • Conduct periodic foundation and corporate prospect research. Assist with authoring aspects of funding proposals and help to gather and formulate interim and final grant report information.



Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Minimum three years of nonprofit development experience.
  • Experience working with a donor management system such as NationBuilder, Raisers Edge or similar system required.
  • Prior special event experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media applications (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), Constant Contact, websites. Photo editing skills a plus.
  • Ability to interface professionally with all levels of staff and external donors.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when updating donor records and developing reports.
  • Skilled at/comfortable with meeting goals, plans and deliverables on time.
  • Familiarity with NYC’s foundation and corporate funding landscape a plus.
  • Proficient writing skills a plus.


Schedule:


Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Occasional evening, holiday, and weekend work.
