SCOPE: As a Designer at E-ONE, you will be working with Sales teams to understand and translate customer requirements into the design of components and systems that are safe, efficient, and reliable. During the design phase you will be part of a design team that will design, review and release design packages consisting of 3D models, part drawings, and Bills of Materials needed for the manufacturing of a fire truck. During the production phase, you will be working with Manufacturing and Quality to help ensure the truck meets customer requirements and delivery expectations. Your product design expertise will also be needed to support customers who may need support in the field. The Designer at E-ONE is relied upon by other employees and customers for technical guidance and support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Creation or changing mechanical components and systems used on Fire Apparatus.
Creation of 3D models and drawings to be used to manufacture components. Delivery of producible designs to Manufacturing, applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies to assure form, fit and function.
Creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM) in adherence to company standards.
Participation in customer meetings to understand the design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
Providing support during manufacturing to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
Fulfillment of customer requirements (i.e. quotes, shop orders) considering design rules and all applicable interface points.
Holding cross-functional design reviews as appropriate to solicit input to deliver a robust design that is producible, avoiding interferences and meeting all industry and company requirements.
Managing Engineering changes through established processes and documentation.
Support production line and customer support as needed to maintain operational flow or resolve specific customer problems.
Ad-hoc production line or customer support as needed to maintain operational flow or resolve specific customer problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Degree in Engineering and at least 2 years' experience or equivalent practical technical experience.
Proficiency in CAD systems - CREO and/or Auto CAD
Must be able to meet all Associate Designer (Drafter) qualifications.
Must have a thorough understanding of design and/or drafting techniques.
Must be knowledgeable of AutoCAD, ProE/Creo or other design software.
Must have knowledge of extruded aluminum or aluminum - or steel plate manufacturing processes.
Knowledge and practical use of drawing and drafting standards is important, including applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and department policies. Knowledge of manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication / assemblies will be required.
Useful skills:
o Awareness and familiarization of regulatory standards - NFPA, DOT, ULC etc.
o Knowledge and use of lean manufacturing principles
o Problem solving skills including Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, Is Is-Not, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
