Designer Drafter

Creates detailed product drawings and 3D models of proto-type designs of new products, redesigned products, product revisions and product assemblies. Works with AMERICAN Innovation, AMERICAN Valve & Hydrant, Waterous and other organizations as required to ensure the ease of manufacture of products. Assists in data collection and data organization for proof of design files. Develops and creates 3D models and assemblies, illustrations, and submittals for use in manufacturing, sales, marketing and other organizations as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Makes detailed product models/drawings for development of new products, redesigned products, product revisions and product assemblies manufacturing using standard engineering practice.
• Performs various drafting, technical, manual and clerical duties as required by supervision to provide detail layouts, bills of material, and drawings.
• Keeps reports and test data files up to date.
• Performs maintenance of CAD files in response to engineering and/or customer changes.
• Prepares bill of materials for product implementation into production.
• Works with AMERICAN Innovation, AMERICAN Valve & Hydrant, Waterous and other organizations to develop and create 3D computer aided design (CAD)software models, assemblies, illustrations, submittals and engineering drawings to support the production of prototypes, final design, manufacturing, and quality specifications.
• Interfaces with engineers, customers, and other organizations to verify that data pertaining to product specification is documented accurately.
• Assists in data collection and data organization for proof of design files.
• Maintains confidentiality of all design information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

5. Must display good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Must exhibit ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
7. Must have prior experience in drafting (sample of work required) using a computer-aided design (CAD) system (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).
8. Must exhibit the ability to produce quality engineering drawings.
9. Must exhibit the ability to work basic math, geometry, and trigonometry problems correctly.
10. Must exhibit proficient computer skills and be knowledgeable of computer operating systems.
11. Must exhibit the knowledge, skill and ability to understand and interpret product drawings, including basic welding notations, and machine marks.
12. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Two or more years' drafting experience.
2. Some knowledge of basic engineering concepts such as stress and strain.
3. Prior experience or training with SolidWorks software.
4. Possess SolidWorks certification. Proof of certification required.
5. Associate degree with college courses completed in engineering, math, science, or related fields from an accredited college or university. Proof of degree required.
