Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
• Produce and revise Bills of Materials, detailed work instructions and work center routing for production of UEA components, assemblies and parts, working independently or in consultation with Engineers, Operations, Customers or Supply Chain Manager
• Create and revise UEA parts books for all products using specific design and production software
• Draft layouts and drawings of all UEA components, assemblies and parts according to engineering specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, prototypes, verbal instructions, customer expectations, and quality standards; ensure complete and accurate documentation of design and development process is in compliance with ISO requirements
• Collaborate with fellow designers, Engineers, Customer Service, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure design specifications are accurately drafted, prioritized and meet customer requirements
• Other projects and duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports directly to the Project Engineer and no positions report directly to this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:
• Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality Manual and Safety training regarding conduct and performance standards expected of all employees
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and private information

• Prepare accurate product drawings and assembly prints based on engineering approved information, sketches, and work processes
• Accurately produce and revise Bills of Materials, detailed work instructions, and work center routing for production of UEA components, assemblies and parts
• Utilize design and production software to draft product drawings, BOMs, and assembly prints of all UEA components, assemblies and parts according to engineering specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, prototypes, verbal instructions, customer expectations, and quality standards
• Create and revise UEA parts books for all products
• Assist operations with interpreting product design, print specification, or work instructions of specific parts or components when requested
• Supply accuate product design information including estimated production times in a timely manner
• Ensure complete and accurate documentation of design and development process is in compliance with ISO requirements
• Participate in opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills, keeping current with UEA software, product developments, and operational requirements
• Product drawings, assembly prints, and BOMs consistently meet engineering specifications, customer expectations, and quality standards
• Consistently and effectively identify, manage and complete multiple responsibilities accurately, timely and within budget including communication and follow through on task information, status, and questions to the appropriate people
• Demonstrate collaborative working relationships, good judgment, reasoning and professional conduct in all business interactions, representing UEA favorably with employees, customers, and vendors
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation
• Demonstrate physical, regular, and punctual attendance and communicate scheduled and unscheduled absences in advance
• Perform other duties as directed by the Project Engineer.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION - High School Degree or equivalent is required and an Associates Degree in engineering, drafting or related discipline is preferred.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum of one (1) year drafting experience at a manufacturing facility or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Prior experience using Microsoft Office, Solidworks, or similar 3D CAD, and ERP system strongly preferred.
SKILLS - Strong listening, written and oral communication skills are essential to effectively collect and disseminate information with customers, suppliers, and employees at all levels of the organization. Professionalism, time management, organization, and prioritization skills are critical competencies. Strong math, attention to detail and problem solving ability is necessary. Exceptional technology skills and experience using 3D CAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Office Suite and a manufacturing ERP system preferred. The ability to work under time and budgetary pressures is also necessary.
PHYSICAL - Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, talk, and hear ( with mechanical assistance if necessary ) sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. Possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus ( with corrective lenses if necessary ) to perform the requirements of the position.
MENTAL - Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and possess the ability to communicate clearly on technical and business levels while maintaining professional conduct is essential. The ability to handle high pressure, high demand situations and projects with financial impact is also critical.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Engineering Design Technician will primarily work in a plant office setting which is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment that also has typical factory hazards including noise, dust, cutting, drilling, solvents and blocked walkways and tripping hazards. United Equipment Accessories, Inc. functions in a real market environment that changes at various times of the year which occasionally may create high output or greater time pressure demands. This full-time position's regular work schedule is determined by supervisor upon offer. Office hours will vary according to overtime requirements and business demands.
