We are seeking an experienced Design Supervisor- Environments (CG) for an exciting, unannounced CG animated project. The Design Supervisor- Environments (CG) is responsible for leading our modeling team in the creation of complex CG environments and set models for our upcoming animated series. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of 3D modeling, be able to interpret creative direction, and manage both the artistic and technical aspects of the modeling department to meet production goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Production Designer, Art Director, and CG Supervisor to build and execute detailed CG environment/set models, ensuring that the creative direction is accurately translated into the models.
- Manage the complexity of set models, maintaining high department standards that facilitate efficient workflow throughout the production pipeline.
- Proactively attend reviews across departments to address any questions or comments related to environment modeling.
- Coordinate with the CG Supervisor and other departments to ensure modeling needs are communicated and other departments' requirements are met.
- Oversee the presentation of environment models, ensuring they meet production standards.
- Engage in vendor asset reviews, providing detailed feedback, paintovers, and, if necessary, internal fixes to models.
- Collaborate with TDs, R&D, and Production Management to enhance production pipelines and methodologies.
- Convey requests for new tool development and improvements to existing tools to R&D and the CG Supervisor.
- Effectively communicate issues and solutions to Production Management, maintaining transparency and efficiency.
- Partner with Production to manage the department's schedule, meeting quotas and deadlines.
- Assist the Production Supervisor with casting shots/assignments and mentor modelers to foster their professional growth.
- Participate in performance reviews, helping to address and resolve any performance-related issues.
- Contribute to a positive work environment and maintain crew morale.
- Work with management on casting and staffing, ensuring the selection of suitable talent for the production.
- Support recruiting efforts, conduct interviews, and oversee training for new hires.
- Organize meetings to keep the team updated on production changes and requirements.
- Extensive experience in CG environment modeling and supervision within the animation or VFX industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of modeling work, including complex environments.
- Proficient in 3D modeling software such as Maya, Blender, or similar.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Film, Computer Graphics, or a related field is preferred.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $1,800/week to $3,000/week. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
