Design Specialist

Purpose

The purpose of the job is to create packaging designs that are desirable and meet the needs of the customer, while simultaneously following a design process that supports efficiency and quality in the production of products. This is an on-site position located in Streetsboro, Ohio.

Essential Functions

1. Create new product designs based on customer needs utilizing design request forms, customer renderings, or thru strategic brain-storming, up to and including level 2 difficulty
2. Create CAD drawings based on internal or external designs, or samples provided.
3. Fabricate product samples that support the needs of the customer and the needs of the sales staff, and are approved by a supervisor
4. Be available to assist sales representatives on customer calls in the field , when requested.
5. Created jigs, fixtures, CNC instructions and Assembly Drawings for the Production department that maximize quality and provide guidance for assembly and fabrication.
6. Assist with maintenance of the CAD table per a preventative maintenance schedule and maintain a central drawing library that organizes drawings, making them easily retrievable.
7. Create/specify tooling layouts. Check -in new tooling and release to production.
8. Be available to complete short run production orders.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Keep clean and organized work space.
• Maintain a proper inventory of CAD supplies
• Be available for training

Qualifications/Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Proficient in CAD design software( Artios CAD preferred).
• 1-2 years experience in packaging design preferred.
• Proficient in the use of a CAD table for prototype production( Kongsberg table preferred)
