- The Technology & Breakthrough Innovation department drives the creation of new opportunities for S&C Electric by exploiting new technologies and enabling breakthrough product development for the fast-evolving intelligent grid.

- We are looking for an agile, creative, and determined individual to investigate, develop, test, and promote revolutionary protection and restoration schemes to enhance the reliability and safety of the distribution grid.
- In this position you will grow to become a highly interdisciplinary engineer, building expertise in software, signal processing, communication, power system, and simulation.
- Prototype algorithms to be deployed in embedded and enterprise software platforms
- Model the behavior and dynamics of events occurring on the grid, validating these models through simulations and with data collected from the field
- Add capabilities to our software and real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments
- Setup and analyze lab experiments involving S&C devices, electrical sources, filters, sensors, data acquisition equipment, environmental chambers, and other electrical and power components
- Research future customer needs through literature, conferences, discussions with colleagues and external customers, and participation in industry activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a master degree may substitute the relevant work experience requirement; holders of a doctorate degree are encouraged to apply
- Basic understanding of digital signal processing
- Lab experience, to include connecting sensors to oscilloscopes and other acquisitions systems, and performing offline analysis of data
- Experience in using software simulation tools such as Simulink or similar
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably MATLAB and/or C/C
- Aptitude for translating thought processes into software
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate with colleagues
