Overview:
The Derrickhand assists in all duties on the rig site to include rigging up and down, picking up or laying down tubing, working the rig floor, and assisting in operating the rig when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all work during well servicing, from rod basket or tubing board (transfers rods and tubing from vertical racks to elevator)
- Operates tubing elevators and rod transfers for standing or running tubing from derrick
- When rigging up and rigging down, assists Operator in lining up rig with well
- Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching guy wires to anchor
- Responsible for all elevated work associated with rigging up/down (e.g. removing horse head from pumping unit)
- Inspects and maintains workover rig (e.e. checks fluids – oil, water, hydraulic, and transmission levels) reports any maintenance issues to Operator
- Follows and supports all AWS HSE policies at all times
- Knows and uses appropriate PPE at all times
- Drives company vehicles over various types of road conditions and terrain, including highways, rural roads including paved and gravel surfaces, and off road situations including two track roads
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
- 1+ years’ experience a Derrickhand or equivalent
- Able to multi-task in fast paced environment
- Works well with others
- Basic problem solving and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to communicate, read & write in English
- Ability to clear/pass pre-employment screening, testing and job-relevant hiring requirements
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law
- Able to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on routine basis
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and color vision
- Able to deal with wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat/cold
- Work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles and moderate to loud noise, requiring consistent use of appropriate PPE
