Dermatology Medical Assistant

We are a busy, multi-provider dermatology practice looking to hire a full-time Certified Medical Assistant. This position performs patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of a physician in a private practice setting. Candidate would start on 4/1/24.

We strongly prefer that candidates have previous dermatology experience in an office environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to interact professionally with physicians, patients, coworkers, and management.

Some travel to our Birmingham location to assist providers is required. Work hours are typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, depending on daily schedules. Work days are Monday through Thursday and one Friday morning per month.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Direct patients to proper exam/treatment room; prepare patients for examinations and other procedures
• Document patient information and visit details in electronic medical records
• Assist providers with procedures and data entry into electronic medical records as directed
• Set up for biopsies and surgeries
• Instruct/educate patients accordingly after clinic visits and procedures
• Maintain, clean, and/or sterilize medical equipment
• Mix medications for injections and topical solution, when necessary
• Answer patient questions as per the provider in a reasonable time
• Collect, label, and document specimens
• Log all biopsy and lab results
• Interact with pharmaceutical representatives to learn information to improve patient care
• Clean exam rooms between patient visits
• Handle properly the disposal of infectious and/or hazardous waste

Skills Needed:

• Proven work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Excellent organizing and planning skills with an ability to pay attention to fine detail
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• EMR experience preferred
• Experience with inventory/stocking medical supplies
• Professional demeanor
• Ability to work with consistent attendance; work well in a fast-paced environment of a dermatology clinic

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
