The Town of Huntington is seeking a candidate for the position of Deputy Town Director ofPublic Safety. The deputy would assist the department’s director in the overall planning and implementation of programs to enhance the efficiency of the department through the use of technology-based applications dedicated to Public Safety. The deputy would supervise administrative and operational staff across various divisions in the department and effectively delegate authority with respect to the needs of the department. Developing and updating policies to keep current with local and state municipal Public Safety requirements, and ensuring that personnel are properly trained in these policies to carry out the mission of the department are also components of the position.
The candidate must have knowledge of the Town code as well as the local laws and ordinances that are exercised within the jurisdiction of the Town. Gathering and evaluating evidence to construct fact-based arguments resulting in a logical conclusion is also a required skill. Additionally, the candidate should have concise communication skills both written and oral, which are required to prepare and present timely reports to the executive management team. Reports may include, but not be limited to budgetary and/or statistical information critical to the operation of the department.
The deputy would work independently, but may at times be required to work as a team member on special projects for the benefit of other departments.
Pay Range: $100,000 to $105,000
