Purpose and Summary
Notice To Applicants: In order to be considered, interested persons must submit form DJ-LE-330 (,) along with responses to questions in part six - General which is located after the references section in the DJ-LE-330 form.
The Sheriff's Department has openings for Deputy Sheriff's. This part-time position has a starting salary of $23.24/hr.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The goal of a part-time civil process deputy is to carry out the statutory duties of the sheriff as described in Wisconsin Statutes 59.27 (4) as follows: & Personally, or by his undersheriff or deputies, serve or execute all processes, writs, precepts and orders issued or made by lawful authority and delivered to the sheriff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The civil process part-time deputy's duties include, but are not limited to, service and execution of Executions:
Writs of Replevin
Writs of Restitution
Writs of Assistance
Notices of sale of real estate
Notices terminating tenancy
Garnishments
Summons
Subpoenas
Summons and complaints for eviction
The civil process part-time deputy must receive and check for validity before service or execution. The civil process part-time deputy must exercise reasonable diligence as required by law when attempting service of civil processes. The civil process part-time deputy will, pursuant to a legal writ or warrant, safely transfer prisoners to or from the state prison system, approved mental health facilities or local law enforcement agencies according to the specific judicial order. When required, the civil process part-time deputy will assist Court Services in providing security duties for the court commissioner or Circuit Courts.
While performing security duty, a part-time civil process deputy will do so in accordance with the position description for a courthouse security officer. Any other duties ordered by the sheriff or his/her designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of a two-year associate degree and five years (10,400 hours) of law enforcement experience.
  • Availability to have a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department and the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week on a regular and predictable basis.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively, efficiently, and entirely complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to accept supervision.
  • Ability to effectively manage civilians and inmates in a wide range of circumstances.
  • Ability to function appropriately during stressful situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to deal effectively with coworkers and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality and good working relationships with co-workers and other staff. Ability to maintain regular and predictable work attendance.
