The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position(s) of Commissioned Road Deputy.
Montgomery County is 542 square miles of predominantly rural farming community and is located an hour east of St. Louis. Montgomery encompasses 22 miles of 1-70 and includes seven municipalities, four of which have their own police departments. With that said, the Sheriff’s
Office and one Police Department are the only agencies that are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Sheriff’s Office staffs 11 Road Deputies, 3 Court Services, and has a Jail
Division staffed by 16 Detention Officers.
The position of Road Deputy includes but not limited to the handling of calls for service, patrol, traffic control, investigations, assisting other agencies and the serving of civil and criminal papers. In addition, the position of Road Deputy requires multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize your calls for service.
BENEFIT PACKAGE:*Starting Pay (Includes Worked Holidays): $42,164.64 - $43,254.00 *Worked Holidays: Paid *Non-Worked Holidays: Time is banked as Owed Personal Time Off and may be used in the same manner as Vacation Time. *Paid Overtime: For 2022, the average overtime for a patrol deputy was + or - 147 hours. The Patrol Division is the most visible division and performs functions that most people associate with law enforcement. Those are the deputies out in the field answering calls for service, conducting criminal investigations, business checks, serving civil papers, enforcing traffic laws and making on-view criminal arrests. The K9 Unit, Investigations, and Resource Deputy are all assigned to the Patrol Division. The Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division is 24 hour a day, 7 days a week law enforcement agency within Montgomery County. The Patrol Division responds to calls for service through the rural areas of the county and communities when municipal law enforcement officers are busy or not on duty.
