Your Responsibilities

Your Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited law enforcement academy.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Excellent physical condition and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

About Us

Charles Mix County, located in the picturesque region of southeastern South Dakota, is known for its thriving communities and natural beauty. 130 miles of the Missouri River encompasses Charles Mix County with excellent fishing, upland and waterfowl hunting. As the Deputy Sheriff, you will have the opportunity to serve and protect approximately 9,000 residents. Each Deputy is issued a Ram take home vehicle as a patrol vehicle. Deputies schedule is 12 hrs shfits with shift differential pay for hours worked between 6 pm and 6 am. Our county government is dedicated to providing excellent services, maintaining public trust, and fostering a safe environment for all residents.
