NOTE: You MUST HAVE a BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER CERTIFICATION with GEORGIA Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
Major Duties:
- Engage with community to build positive community relations
- Patrol the county to deter and detect crime, enforce laws, and protect life and property
- Respond to calls for service, including disturbance and crime complaints
- Enforce all traffic laws and issue citations and warnings
- Perform misdemeanor and felony arrests to include completion of booking procedures when necessary
- Assist stranded motorist, direct traffic, transport prisoners, and escort funerals
- Perform business and residential security checks
- Serve as the first responder to provide aid and assistance to victims of crimes and traffic accidents
- Secure and protect crime scenes, including physical evidence, suspects, victims, and statement collection
- Prepare incident reports and submit initial case files in compliance with agency policies and legal rules
- Maintain assigned uniform, vehicle, and equipment following agency policies
- Present evidence and testimony in criminal cases
- Assist stranded motorist, direct traffic, transport prisoners, and escort funerals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
- Knowledge of law enforcement and criminal investigation methods, procedures, and techniques
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Knowledge of agency policies and procedures
- Knowledge of county geography, streets, roads, and buildings
- Knowledge of procedures used in emergency communications
- Skills in use of firearms
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports
- Ability to obtain information through interviews, interrogations, and observation
- Ability to operate assigned agency vehicles and equipment, including firearms
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a certified Peace Officer under regulations of Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent
- Must have a valid Georgia driver's license
- Must be able and willing to work any shift/hours
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,404.00 - $45,000.00 per year
