2024 Salary Ranges:
- Deputy I - Range 9
- Deputy II - Range 11
- Senior Deputy I - Range 13
- Senior Deputy II - Range 14
Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).
Supervisor: Assistant Chief Criminal Deputy ProsecutorHours of Work: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM
Deputy I:- Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association. Trial experience in criminal law desirable, but not necessary.
- Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
- Requires two years service as a Whatcom County Deputy I in the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney's Office or three years as a successful practicing attorney with an equivalent trial background that provides the required skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
- Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
- Requires two years service as a Whatcom County Deputy II in the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney's Office or five years as a successful practicing attorney with an equivalent trial background that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
- Requires successful completion of eight years as a Senior Deputy in the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and performance-based approval of promotion by the Prosecuting Attorney OR an equivalent length of service as a successful practicing attorney working primarily in criminal or civil law with equivalent trial background experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
