Job description

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking a Deputy Director of Operations. The ideal candidate will be based in our Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, or Chicago office. The Firm has experienced record growth for several consecutive years and we are seeking a person to be Deputy Director of Operations (the "Deputy"), to assist the Chief Operating Officer (the "COO"). Reporting to the COO, the Deputy will be responsible for assisting with implementing Firm strategy into daily operations to meet Firm objectives. The COO and the Deputy will work collaboratively to oversee and manage operations.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Oversee and manage delegated aspects of Operations to ensure efficient operations
  • Implement business strategies and plans to meet the Firm's objectives
  • Analyze internal operations across the Firm and identify areas for process enhancement
  • Manage expenses and capital expenditures to meet budget objectives
  • Partner with Department Heads to execute the operational strategy developed by Firm leadership
  • Collaborate with the Finance Group to review processes and procedures, recommend changes and assist in the management of the group
  • Collaborate with the Finance Group to analyze financial data and present streamlined, accurate and timely financial reports including forecasting, trends and analysis
  • Collaborate with the Practice Group Chairs, Partners and the Finance Group on collections, billing issues and processes
  • Complete tasks delegated in a timely and efficient manner

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The Deputy will have strong leadership skills with an ability to approach projects and issues creatively to resolve and implement them
  • 10 years or more of law firm operational experience demonstrating increased responsibility
  • CPA, accounting or finance graduate level degree, with extensive financial background and experience in financial operations
  • Strong project management skills and experience balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify and diagnose issues quickly for resolution
  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex ideas to both senior executives and staff
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
