The Deputy Director serves as a key member of the PNDC Team and will be responsible for providing strategic insight and development of new strategic partnership programs as well as implementation of programming/events to support PNDC initiatives and drive member engagement and revenue. This position will report to the CEO, but closely collaborates with sales as well as executive management to develop strong, lucrative, and positive relationships with our partners. With equal parts strategic and tactical/administrative, this position oversees delivering PNDC’s customer value through marketing and shaping, planning, and executing PNDC’s high-profile events. They work closely with other staff, but manage the strategic program, finding creative solutions to projects, and helping connect members and non-members to our services, educational/training programs, and networking opportunities.
The Deputy Director will be responsible for the operational success of PNDC’s programs ensuring seamless event management and development, program delivery, financial viability, quality control, and evaluation. The Deputy Director has an externally facing role managing relationships in the community. There also is an emphasis on team management and development and establishing standards of performance across all programs/events. The position requires multi-tasking and being responsive to the needs of our members and partners.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships (Event Sponsorships and Sustaining Memberships)
§ Develop a partnership program to meet monthly and quarterly revenue targets and significantly grow our partnerships year over year.
- Identify and actively sell event sponsorships and recruit sustaining members.
- Manage relationships with existing and new corporate partners – both sponsors of events and Sustaining Members. Negotiate membership packages and coordinate benefits for corporate partners regarding their commitments and needs.
- Develop regular mechanisms for providing excellent customer service to existing corporate partners and relationship building with prospective partners.
- Provide services and track benefits provided to corporate partners to ensure that all sponsors receive benefits offered. Ensure sponsorships and donations are accurately acknowledged and tracked.
§ Serve as strategic advisor and consultative partner helping to identify opportunities for growth within the business community and partner relationships.
§ Develop and implement new innovative activations (programs, events, etc.) based on partner’s needs.
§ Create new opportunities to integrate partners with PNDC initiatives.
§ Build and manage a productive strategic partnership pipeline through a variety of channels.
§ Actively support existing partners with marketing collateral and programs to help exceed sales objectives.
§ Manage relationships and fulfillment of Sustaining Member and Sponsorship agreements; Manage implementation plans to track partner fulfillment.
§ Facilitate year-end recaps and review with existing partners.
Program Strategy
· Develop an annual strategic programming/event plan including a financial plan (i.e., budget). Evaluate past performance on specific events (revenue, expenses, attendance, location, timing, marketing efforts, feedback from attendees and staff, etc.) and make changes as necessary.
· Develop and implement strategies that will maximize synergies among program areas.
· Develop objective performance measurements to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for future events.
· Establish, negotiate, and maintain partnerships with co-hosting organizations where appropriate. Assure partnerships are in the best interest of PNDC and member businesses.
§ Oversee staff and/or committees related to client events including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and providing appropriate follow‐up.
§ Oversee training of existing staff and/or contractors undertaking some or all parts of events; Develop and implement a system to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional needs of event staff and/or contractors. Implement a development program to address employee experience and skill gaps related to event management.
