Job description


 

We are seeking a full-time dental or Surgical Assistant to add to our dedicated oral surgery team. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting the doctors during procedures and caring for patients, taking x-rays, preparing surgical equipment, sterilization of instruments and documentation in EMR. Must be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs, caring, enthusiastic, and driven. We are looking for a team player that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position Monday through Thursday 8am to 4:30pm & Fridays 6:30am to 1:30pm. Excellent benefit package including health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as 401K, PTO and uniform allowance. Previous dental or medical experience preferred.


Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Review patient schedule and correlating charts to ensure readiness for treatment. 
  • Preparing operatories, setting up sterilization for the day, and ensuring rooms are ready for treatment. 
  • Obtains and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of the patient and communicates this information to the doctor. 
  • Obtains dental radiographs and cone beam scans on patients and reports findings to the doctor.
  • Provide a high level of patient experience through communicating comfort options, patient education, and treatment expectations. 
  • Assists surgeons during surgical procedures and patient consultations 
  • Provides post-operative instructions prescribed by the doctor. 
  • Maintains clinical notes for patients documenting pertinent information in the patient charts. 
  • Collaborates with front and back office to ensure schedules run smoothly and efficiently in addition to communicating treatment plan with Front Desk team.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures. 
  • Properly closes out operatories at the end of shift to assure operatories are clean and restocked and patient ready.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent

 

EXPERIENCE:

Medical or Dental Assistant, or Surgical Tech experience preferred
