POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Dental Subject Matter Expert (SME). This individual will act as a lead thought partner & organization lead for all Dental and Dental-associated information within the Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) office. Ideally this individual will have affiliation with and/or significant knowledge of existing dental standards organizations including the ADA, CDA, CSDS, HL7 Payer and Provider Exchange Committee (PIE), the Dental Summary Exchange Project, Interoperability Workstreams, and the WEDI Dental Sub workgroup.
This person will be responsible for leading and executing on the transformative efforts of the Dental Summary Exchange Project, the Dental Data Exchange Implementation Guide, and will promote the incorporation of dental standards with USCDI/USCDI+. You will use your expertise to pressure-test assumptions, plans, and project quality and sufficiency. The ideal candidate should be a board-certified DMD or DDS with expertise in people and project management and will be able to provide perspective on best path forward for dental interoperability and standards.
Success in this role includes achieving the following outcomes:
  • Providing dental expertise for conversations regarding Dental Data Exchange & ADA Standards
  • Developing dental interoperability metrics & goals for continued use and tracking
  • Creating artifacts, including a dental whitepaper to document progress towards advancing dental standards
  • Update and execute a project plan to advance dental standards via FEHRM and its federal partners
  • Participating in and/or leading various project efforts, committees, and Dental standards implementations
  • Conducting progress reporting on project outcomes on a regular basis

The ideal person should drive work independently, accurately prioritize responsibilities, and develop informed recommendations. This role will ensure all work is high quality and error-free, and that multiple work products are delivered on-time to government stakeholders.
Day to day work for this role will be as directed by the FEHRM Digital Standards Lead, with input from BCG (prime vendor) as needed. In addition, this role will work closely with other government leaders, external federal agencies, and other subcontractors in support of building a cohesive and integrated team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate and/or take lead of the Dental Summary Exchange Project, provide perspective, and recommend changes to existing and newly proposed ADA standards
    • Work with ADA to encourage dental software vendors to participate in standards testing and create/edit dental standards
    • Guide priorities for testing of software APIs
    • Track information from and act as a voting member on ADA Standards Committees on Dental Informatics (recently renamed to Consensus Bodies)
  • Evaluate & provide changes to the Dental Data Exchange Implementation Guide
    • Track & determine conformity with Clinical Practice Guidelines
    • Act as lead point of contact for questions about future suggested edits
  • Collaborate with numerous government organization members on interoperability
    • Attend FEHRM Standards Stakeholder Meeting & collaborate with workgroups
    • Provide dental interoperability and standards inputs progress updates to broader teams
    • Promote incorporation of dental standards within United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI/USCDI+)
    • Pursue changes in wording for introducing ADA CDT procedure codes, and assist with creation of a separate dental domain
  • Stay up-to-date on trends in the dental industry and profession
    • Act as an active member of the ADA, CDA, and CSDS
    • Review news releases from professional journals, government updates, and dental association news

*Perform special projects and/or other duties as assigned or required
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Either Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare management & team leadership, preferably working with federal agencies
  • Experience communicating with executive stakeholders required
  • Proficient computer skills, including in the Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, and Word)
  • Proficient program management, project management, team motivation and building, personnel management, and public speaking skills
  • No malpractice settlements, judgment, or arbitration award
  • Prior Experience in workgroup participation and leadership, preferably within federal agencies
  • Prior experience in Public Sector is a plus, especially if already holding a Public Trust and/or a DoD CAC
  • Prior membership in Armed Forces preferred
  • Must be a US citizen

  • Ability to represent the BCG/BCG Fed brand well to a variety of external audiences
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with poise and tact, and exhibit good judgment
