Description of Work
The Dental Lab Technician position serves as the chief technician and directs all laboratory activities in a lab located at North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, a multi custody female correctional facility.
This is specialized working the production of dental appliances including and partial removable dentures, night guards and occlusal splints. Appliances are fabricated for the statewide clinics operated by DAC Dental Service to improve offender oral health. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop operating policies and procedures for the lab.
- Perform quality control checks, monitor the quantity of work performed.
- Maintain a supply inventory, and complete required reports in a timely manner.
- Work is performed under the general directions of the Dental Director and is periodically reviewed for proper technique, accuracy, and effectiveness of the program.
- This position will also train offenders in the theory and techniques of commercial lab operations.
NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Documented knowledge of the materials and techniques used in the fabrication of full and partial dentures, night guards and occlusal splints.
- Education and/or experience that would give you the ability to adapt general lab techniques to specialized prosthetic cases (must specify).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development diploma and satisfactory completion of an approved two-year Dental Laboratory technology training program.
