JOB SUMMARY
The Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for collecting, posting and managing patient account payments. This position is also responsible for submitting billing claims with insurance companies and third party administrators, and following up with these agencies to ensure maximum claim payments.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Successfully reviews and edits invoices, daily, to ensure all information is accurate prior to submission for payment.
- Posts payments and adjustments to accounts in a timely manner, and re-bill unapproved claim to ensure prompt, accurate payments.
- Contacts insurance companies and other providers/payers regarding account denials, pended claims and/or refunds, in a timely manner.
- Provides excellent customer service to all callers, and assists those with billing questions and concerns.
- Consistently meets defined monthly collection goals set by the department manager in an effort to help meet monthly department Goals set by the CEO.
- Maintains a working knowledge of billing activity for reporting purposes, as required.
- Prepares and maintains reports and other documentation as required by the department supervisor and CEO.
- Successfully creates and monitors payment plans for patients with delinquent balances who cannot make payment in full, so delinquent balances are collected in a timely manner, according to department policy.
- Maintains a working knowledge of collection activity for reporting purposes, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or GED, Certification in Medical billing/Coding preferred
- Minimum two years' experience in medical accounts receivable/collections required, including experience in data entry and medical claims processing.
- Proficient working with Medicaid/Medicare/Commercial billing claims
- Knowledge of third-party operating procedures and practices
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with clinical staff, management, etc.
- Medical AR experience
