Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality dental care to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the dentist during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring the comfort of patients. Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing instruments and setting up equipment
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing support as needed
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Perform patient assessment, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during examinations and treatments
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems such as Epic or Dentrix
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow in the office
- Perform basic laboratory duties such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or relevant work experience
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, terminology, and procedures
- Proficiency in taking dental x-rays and operating dental equipment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with medical documentation and electronic medical record systems
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilization techniques
- Current CPR certification is preferred
