Summary:
The Decision Support Analyst plays a vital role bridging the gap between data analysis and strategic decision-making. Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data from various hospital departments, this professional identifies trends, patterns, and opportunities. They generate comprehensive reports, develop data visualizations, and provide actionable insights to support hospital operations, patient care, and financial planning
Essential Functions
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
Consolidate data from multiple sources, including electronic health records (EHR), financial systems, and operational databases.
Conducts deep-dive analysis to identify trends, correlations, and opportunities for improvement.
Interprets complex data sets and provide clear, actionable insights to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
Completes monthly and annual cost accounting system updates.
Reporting and Visualization:
Develop and maintain standardized and ad-hoc reports for various hospital departments, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Customize reports based on departmental requirements and present findings to stakeholders in a comprehensible manner.
Develop high quality, impactful dashboards using charts, graphs, drilldown, navigation and other data visualization techniques using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
Decision Support and Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with team members in Finance to assess data needs and proactively provide Decision Support in areas such as resource allocation, service line optimization, and quality improvement.
Assist in long-term strategic planning by analyzing market trends, forecasting patient volumes, and evaluating the impact of potential initiatives.
Design, develop, and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools for data collection, analysis, and evaluation of activities.
Training and Support:
Administer ERP security functions, including user access management, role creation, and authorization assignments, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
Act as a point of contact for ERP-related queries, offering expertise and guidance to ensure secure and efficient system usage.
Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Work Experience: Requires minimum three years of experience in Decision Support, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge: Requires proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, and data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.); Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including (but not limited to) Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word; Preferred experience with programming skills like SQL, other languages; Preferred knowledge of budget processes and financial analysis.
