Position Description:
The access level for a DBMS Systems Programmer is extremely high. For RACF security systems (and ACF2 security system), there are profiles established for these technicians to provide the access needed to view and fix product problems quickly. The members of this technical support staff provide 24X7 DB2 support. DB2 is a major mainframe data base used to store very large files containing company specific, and customer specific, sensitive data that if compromised, could impact the integrity of the business.
Responsibilities
This position will require 24X7 support for DB2 subsystems and third party related products. This position requires a strong skill set in diagnosing system problems and providing resolution high availability, mission critical clients. Other responsibilities include:
· Implement software releases and maintenance for preventative/corrective action
· Provide assistance to Operations, cross-functional support groups, application support and application DBA's
· Build or collapse subsystems as required
· 24X7 problem/crisis determination, management, and resolution
· Vendor coordination, management, and escalation
· Provide system recovery, technical support and documentation for Disaster Recovery tests
· Identify and implement Standards/Oneness across the Enterprise
· Quality Assurance Testing prior to test/production implementation
· Identify and implement cost savings opportunities
· Support Mainframe initiatives, documentation, audits
Required Skills/Experience
· 5+ years' experience with mainframe system components; specifically with DB2.
· Trouble shooting experience and skills, and project management skills are required. Desired experience working with support centers on user affecting problems
· Interacting with 3rd party vendors and ensuring 24X7 availability.
· Candidate should have a working knowledge of RMF, and system logs.
· Working knowledge of zOS, JES2, CICS, TCP/IP and VTAM are desirable.
· The candidate should have a working knowledge of SMPE environment in order to apply critical fixes and maintenance.
· Experience with (HelpDesk/Service Desk Product) and crisis management problem management is a plus.
Hours: This position is normally staffed during regular business hours. Employee is expected to be available on-call 24x7.
