Job Description:Day Program Facilitator
Reports to: Supervisor, TOPS Day Program
Primary Responsibilities: Provide support and programming assistance in the TOPS Day Program, and drive participants to and from program
Schedule: Full-Time – 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $20-$22 per hour
Specific Responsibilities:
- Drive participants five days a week to and from program with a program vehicle (SUV)
- Follow are regulations for vehicle safety and program compliance
- Provide direct support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn the necessary skills to increase their independence, social acuity and ability to self-advocate
- Assist with the creation and implementation of educational and enriching programming ideas
- Develop and lead activities and programs
- Facilitate appropriate social interactions among the group participants and assist with their participation in group activities
- Help mediate any conflicts during programming
- Represent TOPS program to prospective and participating families and other members of the community
- Assist with coordination of transportation for the participants
- Participate in continuing education courses and trainings as mandated by state agencies and JFCS
- Be a proactive team member
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, teaching or related field preferred, or
- Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma with at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Ability to interact with participants in a friendly and professional manner
- Candidate must be empathetic, compassionate, independent and have the ability to have fun
- Valid driver’s license, registration, insurance and good driving record
- At least one year of experience transporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
