Data Systems Architect

SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America.
Job Description Summary:
The Data Systems Architect will be responsible for the coordination and design of the Business Data Infrastructure. Coordinate with stakeholders to design and support data access needs. Manage vendors to support the infrastructure and directly contribute to the implementation of robust and maintainable solutions. Provide technical leadership in the design, development and delivery of our business data solutions. Support a culture of data accessibility, intelligent report design and support across all internal and external stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

• Design, implement and maintain a cloud storage solution using enterprise dataflow architecture to provide access to operational data across the organization.
• Responsible for the maintenance and documentation of the ETL framework of an Azure Data Lake Gen 2 that services the entire organization.
• Collaborate with system administrators to identify current use of all platforms critical to business operations.
• Engage with internal stakeholders and system administrators to identify business requirements and processes to provide recommendations on best practices for data curation.
• Manage cloud system usage for cost effectiveness and lead technical efforts for data migrations, disaster recovery efforts, etc.
• Collaborate with the Software Development and Business Applications teams to implement changes based on new requirements, ensuring robust design is maintained.
• Contribute to the development of a centralized knowledge base related to business data access and usage.
• Administer change management policies and procedures and conduct tabletop exercises to assess process effectiveness.
• Stay current on latest trends in business data needs and promote a culture of innovation and technology awareness.
• Work directly with 3rd party solution providers to schedule relevant patches, system updates and design changes.
• Support the Director of Data Architecture and Business Intelligence with business planning activities to identify operating budgets, staffing and technology needs to support the growth of the business.
• Contribute to the data services roadmap and manage the scheduled deployment of new features.
• Support talent recruiting, development and training programs.

• Promote and adhere to a culture of compliance and governance with respect to data accessibility, documentation, process reporting, knowledge transfer and training.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
• 7+ years within a professional business data applications role
• Strong knowledge of business reporting technology
• Experience with cloud solution technologies including Azure and AWS
• Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Gen 2
• Proficient in creating dimensional models using dataflows such as star schema
• Experience building data warehouses and data marts
• Proficient with DTS and Microsoft SQL language
• Strong understanding of cloud computing capabilities, limitations, and visualization technologies
• Experience managing 3rd party application developers and support teams
• Project management skills with experience managing enterprise projects, refreshes, rollouts, and migrations
• Experience working with diverse corporate functions and understanding diverse data needs
• Experience in vendor selection processes and managing scopes of work with 3rd party service providers
• Solution cost monitoring and reporting
• Technical resource planning and mitigation management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient use of Microsoft office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Power BI
• Experience using task management tools including but not limited to; MS Teams, Smartsheet, Confluence, Jira or others
• Excellent attention to detail

$98,269.60 - $147,347.20
