Baker Newman Noyes is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Specialist to join our team and help build the foundation for data-driven decision making.
Because our team is relatively new and small, we are looking for someone who can think critically about developing scalable and maintainable business intelligence solutions that will drive strategy and decision-making throughout the firm.
Primarily, the required skills are those of a data engineer, but this role will not operate in a silo: we seek someone who’s also interested in understanding and helping to develop our full data estate. This position will be critical to strengthening our data foundations and integrating new data sources for analysis in business intelligence tools. Competencies and Position Requirements
· Collaborate with the team to design, develop, build and maintain data pipelines.
· Build systems to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
· Identify and address gaps in existing data collection, including working with other parts of the business to change processes and move data input to machine-readable platforms.
· Participate in Agile project management methodologies and effectively manage tasks.
· Collaborate to build and develop data science solutions.
· Build infrastructure for delivering data solutions to various Advisory clients.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Data Analytics or related field preferred.
· Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing best practices.
· Experience with version control using Git and collaborative development.
· Strong communication skills in technical and non-technical settings.
· Proficiency in Python and T-SQL; familiarity with PowerBI (PowerQuery and DAX) is a plus.
· Familiarity with serverless cloud services and experience with functions-as-a-service technologies is a plus.
