For Data Services Support Clerk: This is specialized clerical work maintaining the accuracy, completeness and integrity of computerized master data files and records, utilizing word processing software and other computerized office applications. Work includes the creation of formats and data categories and temporary and master file data entry, alteration and retrieval and involves considerable manipulation of the data base. Employees in this class perform general clerical duties such as preparing and finalizing document materials such as correspondence, memoranda, reports, forms, legal materials, and other documents. This class is differentiated from all other classes by the responsibility for maintaining file integrity due to employee capability to make direct data base alterations through use of a computer. Composing and generating a variety of reports which require selection and exclusion of specific data and data categories are significant aspects of the work. Work is performed under the supervision of a clerical or administrative superior.
For Secretary: This is secretarial and associated clerical processing work. An employee in this class performs facilitating tasks for a manager or an administrator by scheduling appointments, screening telephone calls and visitors, and communicating information. Included in the work are general office tasks such as typing, data entry, transcribing information, proofing, filing, office support and mail, message control. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.
ANTICIPATED ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements within 6 months of the application deadline (7/5/2024) will be admitted to this examination. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list but may not be hired or promoted until all requirements have been satisfied.
1. EDUCATION: Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.

2. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Two years of experience performing clerical processing tasks, which has included utilizing word processing software to perform data entry, and retrieval tasks using a computer.

ELIGIBLE LIST
Permanent City employees will receive no promotional preference in the open competitive examination. If you have permanent civil service status with the City of Philadelphia, and are eligible to compete in promotional examinations, you should not apply for this examination.
